Skrew – “Shadow of Doubt”
SKREW are a metal band, a band that plays mid-paced heavy pounding music, which is layered with a minimal aspect of industrial. I wanted to start this review that way because everyone seems to not get the idea that this is metal of the heaviest kind. “Shadow of Doubt” sports some of the heaviest riffs that are to be heard. “Generator”, for example, has a rhythm to bring the walls down, as does the rest of the CD. Any way, so why do people refer to this as industrial? Because every song has some sort of subtle sampled sounds in the background, be it keyboard-y stuff or tech-no sublime sounds. SKREWS music is all the better for doing some sampling or experimenting. I don’t know if the drums are real or not, the CD does not say, doesn’t really matter though. One of the guitar players here is the ex-OVERKILL guitarist Bobby G. It is strange that he doesn’t do any solos on this album. Definitely a cool release.
