Strapping Young Lad – “Alien”
Once again, Devin Townsend sounds like five guys screaming, why with the multiple vocals/layering and what not. The overall sound is aggro/scream with a quite of industrial/tech feel. No doubt, fans of this band should be screaming and moshing. The sound is fat, the beats heavy and chunky, stomp-stomp, chug-chug. OK, but musically, is there anything more profound than noisy thrash/chaos? The answer is no. Underneath the hardcore/chunky riffs, there is very little creativity because Fear Factory and Machine Head already did this a long time ago. This band is way overrated.
