Here we have the second release by this really intense band. I’m not really familiar with there previous album, “Heavy As A Really Heavy Thing”, except for the two songs on the Identity Comp. CD that they were on. I really enjoyed these two songs but still have not bought the album. The songs vary and are kinda hard to explain. To me, influences range from GODFLESH to FEAR FACTORY, but do not get me wrong, S.Y.L. has a very unique and distinguishable sound, especially the vocals. Elements of metal and industrial are present. Synths and samples are used quite a bit as well. Another really cool thing, the drummer is non-other than the great kit beater, Gene Hoglan! It is cool to see this excellent drummer still playing. Anyone into some intense, diverse, and really cool music should check this out.
