I wasn\u2019t sure whether or not to interview this band, due to the fact it contains 2 prior members of El Pecado, so I felt kind of funny doing it for some reason. I\u2019m interviewing this band nonetheless, not only because they\u2019re my friends, but because I truly dig their aggressive hard-core approach, and as I figured, it was really fun! Instead of typing out (laughter) every time, I will tell you now that most of the time during this interview, everyone was laughing. I must also add that they have recruited another guitar player who calls himself Aaron, just in case you wonder who the guy with the long hair is. So with a cerveza in hand, this is what we all had to say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interview with Tony, Eric, Nate, and some other friends who were sitting around at the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> O.K., I\u2019m sitting here….where do you talk into?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eric:<\/strong> Into that little microphone nub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> You know what? We started this band almost a year ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> That\u2019s a good start. Deprive started a year ago. That takes care of my first dumb question. (Staring at Tony and Eric, speaking sarcastically.) I understand you guys used to be in El Pecado?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eric:<\/strong> I will not admit to that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tony:<\/strong> That band sucks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> I have no comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> How do you feel stealing them away?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> Pretty good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> Do you feel fulfilled?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> Yes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> Please explain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> No comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> You need to quit doing that, you need to speak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tony:<\/strong> Let the masses hear you Nate!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> Like many hard-core bands today, can Deprive be considered straight edge?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> No.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> Man Nate, can you be even more in-depth than that? Do I hear a second opinion?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tony:<\/strong> (While doing something naughty.) We\u2019re straight edge (Sarcasm!). No we\u2019re not straight edge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> Here they\u2019re trying to…What? I\u2019m asking the questions here son. You guys need to sit closer to me, it\u2019s hard to hear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valerie:<\/strong> Can Nate sit on your lap?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> Yeah, he can even sit on my lap. NO….! I\u2019m kidding, get off me! I might get too “happy”. Let go of my leg! Seriously now. Um, let\u2019s see. Do you guys plan on getting any other members or do you plan on staying as a 3 piece?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> Yeah, we\u2019ll probably get someone else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> Really? Another guitar player? Anyone in mind?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> We don\u2019t know yet, but yes, another guitar player.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tony:<\/strong> We\u2019re going to get a naked dancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valerie:<\/strong> Nate, you\u2019re too hairy. During our senior year, you used to lift your shirt up in class all the time and I always thought that was gross because you were too hairy. Do you remember that?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> I\u2019m not that hairy, just right there. You said I\u2019m gross. You\u2019re really helping my self-esteem here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> Where are you going?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eric:<\/strong> To get something to drink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> My issue on death…be more explanatory with the question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> Bite me. Screw it, how do you all think would be the worst way to die?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> Burned alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tony:<\/strong> Suffocate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eric:<\/strong> Probably have a hot poker shoved up my ass, and have my throat slit. That would probably hurt pretty badly. (Hysterical laughter)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> Actually being burned alive would hurt a lot worse because every single nerve in your body is being singed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tony:<\/strong> After a few minutes though, it would go away, you\u2019d be in shock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valerie:<\/strong> Yeah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> You\u2019d be in more than shock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tony:<\/strong> You\u2019d be in complete shock. Your body would be shutting down; you wouldn\u2019t feel anything after awhile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> Ask another question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> How do you hope that you will die?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> Fast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> Man, you don\u2019t know how hard it is trying to listen to a tape when people are either whispering or not talking loud enough, DO YOU?! NO! So bite me!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> Okay, it\u2019s just not my style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> We do. Okay, how do you guys feel about leaving El Pecado?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tony:<\/strong> I wish we were still in El Pecado, but I like Deprive too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> What\u2019s the difference between playing with El Pecado and Deprive?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tony:<\/strong> Deprive is more groove oriented with a power vibe behind it and El Pecado was just a lot more extreme. All out aggression. Most of the songs were fast, and the slow parts I think are heavier than Deprive, but like I said, Deprive has more of a groove behind it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> Without telling me a fib, with which band do\/did you like playing with better?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tony:<\/strong> I don\u2019t know. There were times for both of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> Depending on the mood?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tony:<\/strong> It definitely depended on my mood. There were times when me and Eric would still jam on those songs when Bo would come up. He\u2019d know some of them and we\u2019d play them, you know?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> How about you? How do you feel the drumming was different?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eric:<\/strong> Well, in El Pecado it was just in-your-face-blast beats and shit like that. With Deprive I can experiment a lot more, get a lot more funkier than with El Pecado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tony:<\/strong> I don\u2019t really feel there\u2019s a way of saying which one\u2019s better because giving the situation, if certain members of El Pecado hadn\u2019t wanted to quit, we\u2019d still be doing that with as much enthusiasm as how we were doing it before El Pecado broke up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> So do you see Deprive as serious as you saw El Pecado, or do you think you guys will break up with time?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tony:<\/strong> I see us keeping at it. I don\u2019t want to quit. I\u2019m working on my music writing abilities, because Nate writes most of the music, but I throw my own little pieces here and there. I see it working. Me and Eric are all into it and Nate is in a bit of a funk, but hopefully he\u2019ll come out of that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> Hey, what does 624 mean?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> It represents us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> How did you come up with that number?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> How did I come up with it? Mystery, figure it out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> How are we supposed to figure something out that you made up?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> Buy the shirt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> Okay, whatever. Are you going to print your lyrics? (The shirt really never unlocked the “mystery” and the number represented 6 (guitar strings) 2 (drum sticks) and 4 (bass strings) – Mike.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> Some of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> Why only some?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> Maybe because they\u2019re personal Mike. Maybe I\u2019m talking about how gay I am and I don\u2019t want anybody to know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> Who cares? It\u2019s the 90\u2019s; it\u2019s hip to be gay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eric:<\/strong> You don\u2019t understand, Nate is flaming gay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Outcast:<\/strong> Okay, no more gayness, it\u2019s been fun guys\/gals, any closing words?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nate:<\/strong> (From afar) I\u2019ve got a big cock, um, be true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
